How
are we involved in spreading the Gospel in Curacao?
The
Oxford church of Christ has been the overseeing
congregation for the work on the island of Curacao
since the mid 1990s. Curacao is a Dutch island
approximately thirty miles off the coast of
Venezuela with a population of about 170,000. The
Rio Canerio congregation is the only congregation of
the church of Christ on the island. Brother Alford
Lazar (seen on left with his wife and children), a
native of the island of Dominica and a graduate of
the Trinidad School of Preaching, has been working
with the congregation there since 1993, and has also
become an influence in spreading the gospel on the
neighboring islands in the southern Carribean. The
Oxford congregation works with the Rio Canerio
congregation in conducting a gospel campaign on the
island each summer, and, along with other
congregations and individuals, provides monetary
support for this vital work.
